Kerrowgair B and B (Bed and Breakfast) is the country home of John & Judy Heggart.
This magnificent Georgian home is situated in historic Yass, a 45 minute drive from the national capital, Canberra.
Kerrowgair is set on 1.25 acres of formal gardens, shady trees, with ponds and gravel walks. Doves add an ambience of peace and contentment.
This house was built in the mid-1850s as a private residence for James Grovenor, an inner keeper and store keeper, and a member of the first Yass Municipal Council.
Kerrowgair is an excellent example of late Georgian architecture and as a part of the Grampian Street precinct, was classified in 1977 by the National Trust.
It is built of stone and stuccoed brick, with hipped roofline and balancing chimneys.
The walls are 22 inches thick and the joinery cedar. Originally a four-roomed cottage, it was enlarged about 1890 by the edition of three large rooms.
The beautifully restored house boasts classically decorated sitting and dining rooms, with warm open fires, fine china, antiques and books.
The guest bedrooms are exquisitely appointed, each with ensuite bathroom.
The East Terrace, overlooking the Wedding Garden, is a perfect place for morning coffee or a drink at sundown, while the shady verandahs offer a quiet place to relax.
Kerrowgair gives the ‘special touch’ to romantic escapes, weddings, family gatherings, retreats or small conferences. And, at Kerrowgair, there is always a warm welcome for travellers.
John and Judy invite you to share their beautiful home and glorious gardens. Their hospitality will make your time at Kerrowgair an unforgettable occasion.
